What To Do For Wedding Favors

What to do for Wedding Favors?

Wedding favors have constantly evolved over the years, from the engraved champagne flute of yesteryear, to the beer koozie of today!  As a wedding vendor, I have seen hundreds of favors far and wide. Below I have some advice on how to choose the best wedding favor!

#1 Keep it Personal to You as a Couple

Think of this as sharing a part of you to all our guests who traveled far and wide to see help you celebrate your day.  This is the #1 most important part of choosing your wedding favor. It needs to BE YOU!

But Really, What should it be!!??

Yeah but physically, what should it be?!  Again, see #1 (above).  That is the most important thing.  The second most important thing is that the wedding favor is meaningful, AND useful!  I say there are two definitions of useful. The first is: “Will I use this after today?” The Second is:  Is this insanely YUMMY!?” At one wedding I attended, the couple gave out unique drinking glasses with their date on the glass.   I loved this gift because each time I used it, I thought of all the fun we had at their wedding! Additionally, sweet treats or good food ALWAYS WINS!  Something sweet to eat is a guaranteed hit.  Some examples are maple candies, chocolates, and really anything sweet and delicious!!  Need some other ideas? I will list some examples here and hopefully you will say “BINGO, THAT’S IT!!!”  And if you are able to combine 2 of the examples below, you have hit the nail on the head!

YUMMY

Local Liquor Samples

Maple Syrup

Honey

Hot Sauce !

Champagne Small Bottle

Chocolates / Chocolate Bar

A Unique Sweet Treat (i.e. Maple Nuts)

MEMORABLE

Mason Jar Monogrammed

Monogrammed Mug (With Coffee?)

Monogrammed Bottle Opener or Magnet

Monogrammed / Wood Drink Coaster

Mini Lanterns

How to keep it budget friendly?

Do it yourself…

Some couples have over 150 people at their wedding, and the favors can get expensive very quickly!  Firstly, do it yourself! Spend the time, and not the money! The gifts can be higher quality, and less expensive!  Not only that, but your guests will appreciate the effort and time put in, and it will make the gift more meaningful to them, and to you!!!  FOR EXAMPLE, I spend the good part of a day in the weeks leading up to my wedding making drink coasters. Not just any coasters!!! These were cut from small birch logs, with the beautiful white bark still on them (White for WEDDING!  Get it??!!) I spent the good part of a day cutting them on my chop saw (something easily borrowed or labor borrowed from a relative or friend) and then some more time polyurethaning them, so they would last!! Total cost:::: $15 can of polyurethane!  If you want to get fancy, you can wood burn your wedding date into them. That was just an example! Anything hand-made like that can be friendly on your pocket book!!!! If you save money on doing it yourself, you can perhaps add more to your favors by having more than one item!!

Consider multiple items….

Perhaps an assortment, or a small basket / bucket with multiple, more inexpensive items for your guests can create a valuable and fun favor that won’t break the bank!!!!

But Really… Come on!  What should I get???  I need this done!!!

Here are some links to Vermont Wedding Favors that we love!!!  Get it done!! Enjoy!!!  These favors are sourced right here in Vermont!  We love McNeil and Reedy – made in VT products with online ordering!!!

Good Luck!

To you engaged couples, we wish you the best of luck with the planning process!  So many details are involved in planning a wedding, we hope this helped with some inspiration for your wedding favors!   Cheers and Congratulations!!!!  The adventure is just beginning!!!!!

How To Choose A Vermont Wedding Barn

How To Choose A Vermont Wedding Barn

Best Questions to Ask at A Barn Wedding Venue Site Tour!

Vermont’s New England rustic country charm is simply unmatched, and our state is home to an enormous amount of wedding barn venues.  Finding the right one can be truthfully overwhelming! There are so many factors to consider while searching for the right one for you!  We have listed below our top criteria for finding the perfect VT wedding barn!

Are the owners / staff friendly and accomodating?  That’s the first sign that lets you preview how your wedding day will go!  If you are getting a bad vibe, look elsewhere!

What are the bathrooms like?  Are they nice?  You want your guests to enjoy themselves and feel comfortable at your wedding.

Are the grounds accessible for elderly people?  Where is handicap parking?  Technically the facility may be handicap accessible, but more than that… is it easy for elderly guests to get around, and is there a good place for them to park?  This is a great consideration if you are inviting any grandparents or elderly relatives.

Is there flexibility with decorations and setup?  What options do you have?  It is crucial to know how your wedding will flow, and what the physical layout will look like.  This is why site visits are so important.

Is there a prep space for your caterer?  Caterers may require a space, or have specific needs.  You need to know what the barn has available, so you can pass that information along to your caterers.

End time restriction?  Town and city ordinances often dictate when your wedding can end. This is essential for planning shuttles, and determining if you need an after party event!

What does your rental fee include, and what extras are there?  What does the facility include, and what extras are there that other barns may not include?  For example, do they include tables and chairs? Or do those need to be rented from a separate vendor?  Those rental costs can add up quickly, and if they are included with your venue, you may be getting a better value!

What is your rain plan?  What is the guest capacity?   Verify the guest capacity, and rain plan.  Make sure the venue can still hold your guests comfortably, even in the event of rain.

Will it be hot?  Historic barns usually do not have air conditioning.  But it is important to ask – what, if anything, is done to keep guests cool and air moving?  It is so important to know what type of fans, or ventilation systems the barns use to keep your guests comfortable!  A good wedding barn should have systems in place to keep the heat from being too excessive!

Other buildings on the property?  What other buildings, rooms, or areas are on the property?  Is there a ceremony site? Is there a place for the bridal party and bride to prep and relax privately?  All are essential to know, so you can plan and visualize your big day!

Is it the right vibe and aesthetic you want?   Does the venue visually and emotionally fit you as a couple?   Does it feel right?  Does it feel FUN?  Make sure to watch videos, or talk to others who have attended weddings at the barn, to get a feel for how fun the day was!

If you are newly engaged, looking for your perfect Vermont Wedding Barn, we wish you good luck, and congratulations!  We hope this article helps guide you on your path to finding the right Vermont wedding barn venue! May the wedding force be with you!  The adventure has only just begun! Cheers!!!!

Weddings at the Mansfield Barn

Inside

Our bride and grooms love the rustic simplisticity of our barnboard interior!  Vintage cage lights surround the interior of the barn giving the space a rustic feeling, as if you’ve traveled back in time to a simpler, more relaxed, and honest way of life.  We are so happy to provide our brides and grooms this atmosphere so their wedding day can be stress-free, FUN, and really suit each individual couple’s personalities!!!  The space features a bar-area with 3 separate bathrooms that does not break up the main reception & dancing space!  An ATM is provided conveniently near the bar, and disguised perfectly to match our vintage rustic theme!

On the grounds you will find a private ceremony space, with a view of the top of Mount Mansfield, and surrounding nearby hills provide great foliage during the peak weeks!  A babbling brook runs in back of the ceremony site also!  Our newlyweds and their guests are granted full access of the 10 acre property, with ample space for cocktail hour, lawn games, and parking.
